Concept Art & Character Design: Lucasfilm Intellectual Property Extension

Project Overview

This concept art initiative focuses on the development of two original character designs engineered to align with the visual style, world-building, and production standards of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise. The primary design objective was to create a distinct series of original figures that reference the existing cinematic universe through weapon design, alien biology, and costuming, while establishing a completely independent creative narrative.

Design Strategy & Visual Engineering

The core creative challenge lay in balancing franchise familiarity with genuine artistic innovation, ensuring the assets feel native to the universe without mimicking existing intellectual property.
  • Structural Reference & Weapon Design: To establish a tangible connection to the franchise, iconic elements like lightsabers were integrated. Rather than replicating established film props, the weapon geometry, hilt mechanics, and emissive properties were completely engineered from scratch, demonstrating advanced industrial and prop design thinking.
  • Xenology & Silhouette Development: While borrowing specific established alien taxonomies from the expanded universe, the physiological structures, skin textures, and facial anatomy were heavily modified. This deliberate anatomical deviation ensures the characters diverge from standard production tropes, offering a fresh, premium aesthetic suitable for high-end digital media or entertainment pre-production.

Technical Execution

The character sheets and final turnarounds were executed using high-end digital illustration pipelines, emphasizing anatomical precision, lighting theory, and intricate textile rendering to deliver studio-ready conceptual assets.
