Project Overview

Trill Mag is an independent, non-profit digital media publication engineered for the Gen-Z demographic, focusing on global news, entertainment, and modern culture. Serving as a dedicated Graphic Design Intern, the objective was to collaborate directly with the editorial department to conceptualize, design, and deploy bespoke digital illustrations and feature graphics to accompany high-traffic editorial articles. This specific deployment focuses on the visual asset generation for the feature article, “Are These Women Industry Plants? A Look Into The 2025 Grammy Awards,” written by Jenna Millar, exploring the media backlash and commercial criticism surrounding music artists Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter.

Design Strategy & Symbolic Allegory

The core creative challenge lay in translating complex music industry dynamics, public skepticism, and artist identities into a singular, high-impact symbolic narrative.

Conceptual Iconography & Framing: The featured illustration adopts a deliberate propaganda-style format where currency motifs dominate the artwork to represent institutional backing. Sabrina Carpenter is rendered using soft pink hues to reference her commercial pop persona, while Chappell Roan is integrated via distinct red hues to mirror her queer community following. Bright, warm-toned foliage trims the composition to establish a strong visual contrast against a deep green backdrop.
Narrative Nuance & Details: The composition weaves in precise symbolic references to current media discourse, including an anatomical nod to familial entertainment industry ties. Roan’s figure leans against the background, casting a dramatic shadow over the underlying patterns to communicate creative defiance and artistic confidence despite shifting public criticism.

Technical Execution & Iteration

The development pipeline highlights a comprehensive exploration of color theory and layout iteration. A series of structural variations were executed, transitioning from a strict monochromatic green schema to high-contrast, fully rendered assets. All design files were developed within the Adobe Creative Suite, optimized for immediate distribution across web platforms and responsive social channels.
