Project Overview

Trill Mag is an independent, non-profit digital media publication engineered for the Gen-Z demographic, focusing on global news, entertainment, and modern culture. Serving as a dedicated Graphic Design Intern, the objective was to collaborate directly with the editorial department to conceptualize, design, and deploy bespoke digital illustrations, feature graphics, and media collages to accompany high-traffic editorial articles. This specific deployment focuses on the visual asset generation for the literary feature, “5-Star Thriller Books You Need To Read This Summer,” written by Rachel Ahrens, cataloging high-demand contemporary literature in the thriller genre.

Design Strategy & Book Jacket Architecture

The core creative challenge lay in developing a cohesive visual tribute that unifies separate best-selling novels into a singular, high-impact composition.

Graphic Composition & Literary Cataloging: The featured illustration displays a curated, literal cascade of five premier summer thriller novels: Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, Alex Michaelides’ The Silent Patient, Lucy Foley’s The Paris Apartment, and Lisa Jewell’s Then She Was Gone. To ensure a unified editorial aesthetic, each cover follows a strict grid configuration featuring the title layout at the top, stylized central iconography in the middle, and the author’s metadata at the base, all framed by a contrasting color-matched border.
Palette & Process Iteration: The background utilizes a fresh mint-colored gradient to provide a clean, high-contrast backdrop that allows the dark book jackets to pop off the screen. The development pipeline involved structured concept sketching and thumbnail layout prototyping to refine the visual depth, subtle textile embellishments, and spine geometry before compiling the final web assets.

Technical Execution

The complete multi-jacket spread, individual cover designs, and conceptual draft collages were executed within an advanced digital publishing workflow using the Adobe Creative Suite. The production process prioritized precise vector padding, high-resolution rendering, and web-optimized exporting to guarantee high-fidelity presentation across responsive digital channels.
